QNAP TS-419P Turbo NAS is the 4-bay, 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA HDD network-attached storage server with iSCSI applications dedicated to SMB, SOHO and home users. As a storage centre for mass data backup, management and sharing, the TS-419P Turbo NAS supports excellent hardware design, outstanding performance, high system reliability, and numerous powerful software applications.

The below are major features and applications you can use in your NAS , There is a little description as well beneath every heading .

Unboxing and Packaging 

TS-419P II comes in big white box which shows you the picture of the NAS on the front side . Moreover  , There are some features and bit of specifications mentioned on the front side as well .

On the back side on the box there is structure diagram for guiding the user how this NAS can be used for almost everything . Again on the back of the box , There are some more features mentioned along with their description .


After unboxing the package and opening up all the accessories included in it . The following items came along with the TS-419P II which are below . There is one power brick along with the power chord to power up  the NAS. Also there is 2 high quality Ethernet cable to connect it to the router/switch . Also included there are some screws to mount your HDD or SSD onto the tray .

Also included in the box , There is Manual which guide the user to setup their NAS for the first time . Also there is a CD which consist of application and firmware so you can install on your NAS . You can download the latest firmware from QNAP website if  it is available . Also there is one card for you which tells that  you can upgrade the firmware for free whenever new is released .

A Closer look at the TS-419P II


It is obvious that inside the box TS-419P II is also included . This is one of its own kind NAS . The design is perfect and elegant and can easily fit in any place . There is small screen on the front side of the NAS which displays you the IP address of the NAS for accessing it . Moreover you enter into the menu by using 2 buttons on the right side of the screen .

Also there is power button on the front side to power on your TS-419P II . Below the power button there is copy button and within that button there is USB slot . This actually copy data from USB to HDD when you plugin the USB and press the copy button , which is very nice . Also on the front side , There are 4 hot swappable HDD or SSD trays . You can easily slide them out and install SSD or HDD in it and then slide it back . That’s All …

On the back side of the TS-419P II , All the necessary I/O ports are placed . On the top you have small reset button in order to reset the settings . Below it there are two e-SATA ports . There are 2 Gigibit Ethernet Port to plugin your Ethernet Cable . Below it there are 3 USB ports . Two of them are USB3.0 and one is USB2.0 . Also you have power connecter at the bottom along with the security Kensington lock slot . Also there is a small fan on the back side of the NAS just to keep things inside running cool .

On the side of the NAS , There is nothing beside a small ventilation for better airflow .

There are 4 trays available for mounting your storage . You can easily tight any SSD or HDD onto the tray with the provided screws and then slide the tray inside the slot and lock it in . And you are ready to go …

User Interface of QNAP TurboNAS TS-419P II 


After the complete setup and installation of the NAS , You can access your NAS via any browser . In Order to access your NAS you have to use its IP address along with 8080 Port . You can change the Port if you want to  . The default Username and Password is  “admin” .

There are ton of menus on the main screen as you can see . Administration , Webserver ,Multimedia Station , Photo Station , Music Station , Download Station and File Manager can be accessed by clicking on them .

After accessing the administration menu , You would see ton of features inside which you can play with  . But it is better to read instruction before doing anything which will keep you on safe side . You can create users , groups ,shared folder , enable/disable services and much more in this menu according to your need.

The download station of the NAS gives you full control to download Torrent or Direct HTTP to your NAS . You have to add the download link or the torrent file and then it will start downloading even if your Computer is turned off . It is quite a good way to download all your torrents as it consumes less power than a medium build computer .

The Web File manager is the core of the NAS . It is the place where you can access your all files stored on your NAS. You can move , Copy or delete the files if you need to . Note that in order to make the new folder . You have to go to the Shared folder in Administration . Also each folder is protected by the rights given to each user . If you want to use all folders you must have read and write rights , Which is again configured in Administration Menu .

Note that if you dont want to use the Web file manager , you can always use the good old FTP client to access your storage of NAS . This keeps you away from getting into the browser and entering the IP address just to download a small file .

Benchmark and Performance 

Note that the Computer Desktop does not make a big impact on the performance of the NAS , But just for the sake of review the rig is below .

The rig we will be using as Dekstop for testing QNAP TurboNAS TS-419P II is ,

  • Intel Core i7 2600K CPU
  • ASUS P8Z68 V PRO
  • 8GB 1866Mhz Patriot Memory RAM
  • OCZ RevoDrive3 x2 Max IOPS 240GB PCIe SSD ( OS )
We will be using Western Digital Green Four 500GB HDD in NAS for testing it . The Graphs for the readings are below ,

In the End ( Conclusion )


Well , After seeing the QNAP TurboNAS TS-419P II . I must say that it is one of the best NAS available in market for Home or Small Business usage. It covers everything you need in NAS at this level . The User interface is though not that much friendly as you think but the wide range of features give it a plus one point . Moreover , the 2.0 GHz is another great thing along with the 512MB DDR III ram which runs the NAS quite fast and the data rates are very impressive as compared to other NAS .

The large number of I/O ports is another great thing . You can plug external hard disk or USB to NAS as storage or to copy things from NAS to your portable storage . The USB 3.0 is another great thing added in this NAS . It allows you to use your New USB 3.0 or Portable HDD which runs on USB3.0 for better performance .

After Testing it , I Have to say that “I Love TS-419P II NAS ” . The Performance , Quality , Design is marvelous . The Features and application are out large . The Customer Support of the QNAP is amazing and great in assisting you to solve any kind of problem .
