Today we are going to review ADATA SX900 256GB Solid State Drive ( SSD ) , So without wasting any time let us know some more about this SSD .

The XPG (Xtreme Performance Gear) SX900 solid state drive is an expanded capacity SSD which uses new optimized firmware to utilize greater storage capacity of the NAND Flash components. With superior NAND Flash, the XPG SX900 SSD reaches new levels of stability and performance. The drive breaks new ground in storage capacity for SSDs utilizing the SandForce 2281 controller, reaching 512GB, a 7% increase over common SSDs in the market that use a SandForce controller. This represents a milestone in ADATA’s history of NAND Flash based products.

Packaging and Unboxing

ADATA SX900 SSD comes in a medium sized blue and black color box . The part where SSD is placed is kept transparent so you can have a look at the SSD without opening , Yet again best way of packaging . Also the Model SX900 along with some other feature are mentioned on the front of the box .

As you can clearly see that below is the provided bracket which can be use to mount the SSD into your system if your casing don’t hold 2.5″ drives directly . The screws are also provided , Note that the provided screws should be used to avoid any uncertain damage .

A Closer look at the SSD

ADATA SX900 256GB is the standard 2.5″ form factor SSD . You can see the in the below picture that this particular SSD is 256GB which means that the Flash Chips used in provide you some extra space and it is not like other 240 GB SSD’s .

The SSD is greatly built and its very light actually , You cant even feel holding it and this is the best part about it . Also you can see in the picture that how sleek it is in design . The Color combination is amazing on the SSD .

On the backside of the SSD , The major two connectors are located to power up your SSD and to connect it to the Motherboard . There is a SATA III Data Cable Connector and SATA Power Connector to power up this SSD . This SSD’s is backward compatible meaning that you can also use it on the SATA II compatible motherboards but you will getting low bandwith and speed .

Benchmarking and Performance

 

The rig we will be using today for testing ADATA SX900 256GB SSD  is ,

  • Intel Core i7 3770K CPU
  • MSI Z77A-GD65 Motherboard
  • Kingston HyperX Predator 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Memory
  • OCZ RevoDrive3 x2 Max IOPS 240GB PCIe SSD ( OS )
  • Seasonic 1250w Gold PSU
  • Gainward Phantom GTX660TI Graphic Card

 

The benchmark results for ATTO Disk Benchmark , CrystalDisk Mark , AS-SSD Benchmark , HD Tune PRO

 

During ATTO Disk Benchmark , We tested this SSD at 128K and got Read Speed about 534Mb/s and write Speed of 521Mb/s .

During CrystalDisk Mark Testing  , We got Read Speed about 497Mb/s and Write Speed of 358Mb/s .

During AS-SSD Testing  , We got highest Read Speed about 529Mb/s and Write Speed of 369Mb/s .

During HD Tune Pro Testing  , We got highest Read Speed about 532Mb/s and Write Speed of 498Mb/s .

In the End ( Conclusion )

 

All we have to say that this is one of the great SSD’s which ADATA have created . This comes in their top of the line series of the SATA III SSD’s although and another model of the SX series in already launched but we will be testing that one soon too . This SSD is powered by the Sandforce Latest 2281 Controller and using MLC NAND Flash Chips . Another great thing is that this gives you an extra amount of space which other most of the SSD dont provide to the consumer and they keep to itself .

After a number of various test , We found that there is a bit low performance but if we see the good side that you are getting a little extra space in the budget than a small amount of slow performance will not be a big issue . Also the results of the benchmarking are amazing. Morover , The built quality and sleek design an another plus factor for the ADATA SX900 256GB SSD .
