Kingston recently announced the expansion of their USB 3.0 flash drive lineup with the release of the DataTraveler Elite 3.0.

The DataTraveler Elite 3.0 is a capless drive, which mean you don’t have to care about losing the protective cap anymore . With USB 3.0 speeds of 70MB/s read, 30MB/s write speed , it should be fast enough for most users.

Packaging and Unboxing

Kingston DataTraveler Elite 3.0 comes in a clean decent pack . The transparent window is there so that you can see the USB itself before buying it , which we think is pretty neat because in this way , User can actually have good look at the design .

Moreover , The capacity of the USB in this case 16 GB is mentioned along with the USB3.0 read and write speeds in the center . At the bottom , USB2.0 speeds are also mentioned .
This USB is supported by almost every operating system including Windows , Linux etc.

Closer Look at the USB

The scope of delivery of Kingston DataTraveler Elite 3.0 is simple . Once you open the box you will only find the flash drive itself .

The flash drive look itself pretty good and decent . The black and white color combination give it a good look . The no-cap design is also a great feature .

In order to reveal the USB3.0 Connecter , just push in from the back or slide back the greyish black part  and the connecter will come out from the front , and you are ready to plug it into the computer .

As you can clearly see , in the below picture that the back of the flash drive is pushed inwards . Moreover note that the USB connecter is colored blue and not black . This shows that it is USB3.0 .

Benchmarking and Results

The system we used for testing the Flash Drive is  ,

• 8GB Patriot Memory RAM
• Kingston HyperX 3K 90 GB SSD ( OS )
• Kingston DataTraveler Elite 3.0 16 GB Flash Drive

The results obtained from Crystalmark Disk and ATTO disk were amazing for this flash drive, We were astonished to see the same results as the Kingston mentioned on their packaging .

Kingston’s first budget USB 3.0 flash drive is a solid performer meeting its advertised speeds without any issues. While the DataTraveler Elite 3.0 is not as fast as it’s predecessors from Kingston it does pretty well compared to the older USB 2.0 standard flash drives.

We love the design as well as the speed of transferring data . Over all this flash drive is a good choice if you are looking to carry your data and access it quickly , This Flash drive comes in many capacities 16GB , 32GB ,64 GB .
