Sleep is a feature that allows users to put the computer into a “sleep state” (ie the state of sleep when not in use).
Or your computer may fall into this state on its own after a long time of user interaction, and we can resume work quickly by pressing a key. any on the keyboard or the power button ..
Mac, Windows, and Linux computers all support this feature, but only Sleep on a Mac is worth the money, as Mac users almost never have to shut down, just fold the device to sleep. .
Because I used to use a Mac, when switching to Windows I also have the habit of leaving my device to sleep, not completely shutting down.
This mode on Windows 10 works quite well, the only problem that makes me very annoying is that every time I turn on the computer after sleep, it looks like WiFfi loses connection, and I have to wait for the connection to reconnect or do it manually.
Luckily, I have found a thorough fix and I will guide you in detail how to do it right in this article!

Why the computer automatically disconnects WiFi after sleep on Windows 10?
The cause of this situation is not clear yet, but rest assured we already have a way to overcome it.
To do this, we need to use Registry Editor, a tool that is too familiar to you in my tutorials.
+ Step 1: First, the fastest way to open Registry Editor
That is to press the key combination Windows + R
to open the dialog box Run => enter the command regedit
=> then press OK
or key Enter
.
Or You can also use Windows Search (Windows + S) and many other ways, but this is the way I use it, very convenient.
+ Step 2: Then go to the directory PowerSettings
in the Windows 10 Registry follow the following path:
Computer HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control Power PowerSettings
You can also paste this link straight into your address bar Registry Editor
=> then press Enter
for faster access (see details if you don’t already know).
If the address bar as shown in the picture is not displayed, click on the word View
=> then select the line Address Bar
to display the Registry Editor’s address bar.
+ Step 3: Please continue to search and access the directory named F15576E8-98B7-4186-B944-EAFA664402D9
Usually this directory will be at the bottom of the directory PowerSettings
And every computer has a house.
+ Step 4: After accessing the above directory, by default it will have 4 keys available including one key DWORD (32-bit)
with the name Attributes
=> Please right click on this key => then select Modify…
to edit its value.
NOTE: Where there is no key Attributes It’s also not difficult at all, just right click on the blank box to select New => already New DWORD (32-bit) Value to create a new key and name it Attributes stop it.
Window Edit DWORD (32-bit) Value
appears, please edit the default value in the cell Value Data
of the key Attributes
this word first to 2, the rest remain => then press OK
to save.
=> Then close Registry Editor and go to the next step, in this case you do not need to restart your computer yet.
+ Step 5: Now open it Control Panel
There are many ways to reopen this component about to be permanently removed by Microsoft, but I still prefer to use the command in Windows RUN.
First open the Run dialog box with a key combination Windows + R
as above => then enter the command control
or control.exe or control panelAnything is fine => then press OK
.
+ Step 6: The familiar Control Panel window appears in front of you again, now we need to access the settings Power Plan
.
Switch the view View by
from Category
to Large icons
and will immediately see the item Power Options
=> click on it is okay.
Also, there is another faster way, just like in Registry Editor, you can completely copy this path
Control PanelHardware and SoundPower Options
then paste in the address bar of Control Panel and then Enter for quick access Power Options.Or is that you can also use the command powercfg.cpl or powercfg.exe in the Run dialog box to quickly access this setting. Choose which way is up to your preference.
In the settings window Power Plans
This, please check if your computer is in use Power Plan
Which of the 3 Balanced
, High performance
and Power Save
– Normally Balanced.
=> Then click on the line Change plan settings
corresponding.
For example I am using is High performance
then I will have to click on the line Change plan settings
on the right side of the line High performance
to open the settings of the Plan you are using.
+ Step 7: The settings window allows you to customize the screen off time, as well as the time it takes for the computer to go to sleep, appear.
But you do not need to pay attention to these options, just continue to click Change advanced power settings
to open advanced settings for this plan.
+ Step 8: There is a window Power Options
smaller than appears, at the top of the list.
Part High performance
(Balanced or Power Saver depending on the plan you use) will have an option we just activated in the Registry above, that is:
Networking connectivity in Standby – Keep connected to the network when in standby mode, ie Sleep.
=> What you need to do now is switch Settings option from Disable
Fort Enable
=> then press OK
to save only.
That’s it, guys, now you just need to close all Control Panel windows, then restart your computer and check the results when possible. Windows 10 will no longer lose network connectivity after you put the computer into sleep mode.
Epilogue
Above is my detailed guide on how fix the loss of WiFi after Windows 10 is reopened from Sleep mode.
After following the above method, I feel secure to use the Sleep feature instead of Shutdown the computer, because the above situation has not happened again (> ‿ ♥)
Hopefully this article will also help you fix this annoying error on Windows 10, oh forget, you can also apply it to both desktop and laptop, because both these devices support Sleep feature. Good luck !
