How to hide or rearrange the screen containing app icons on iPad

Do you have a screen full of rarely used apps? Or perhaps you want to rearrange the display order of the screen when performing a swipe on the iPad’s home screen? Starting with iPadOS 15, you can hide and rearrange the order of your iPad screens. Here’s how to do it.

How to hide iPad screen

The home screen on the iPad is home to a list of app icons, giving you quick access to a program, as well as messages that perform a variety of actions. Depending on the number of applications, you may have more or less interactive screens. In addition, the way people arrange application icons on the screen is also not the same. You can group apps that you rarely use into one screen, then hide this screen and show it again when you need to access an application in it.

To do this, you first press and hold on any empty area of the screen to enter edit mode. You should see app icons wobbling slightly. Then, tap the screen slider at the bottom, just above the Dock area.

Tap the screen slider

You should now see a list of all the interactive screens that contain app icons on your iPad. Each item will come with a checkmark right below it, letting you know that this screen is on display, and you can see them when you perform horizontal swipes on the home screen.

Uncheck the screen you want to hide

Just uncheck the screen you want to hide then tap “Done” in the top right corner when you’re done. Press Done again to exit edit mode.

Click “Done”

(Note: When you hide the screen on iPad, apps you recently downloaded are automatically placed in the App Library, not on the home screen).

Now when swiping across the home screen, you will no longer be able to see the screen (and icons on it) that you have hidden!

Rearrange iPad screen order

One of the best organization features Apple introduced on iPadOS 15 is the ability to rearrange the order of the home screen. If you have multiple monitors, each containing different apps and folders, this is the ideal way to organize the order in which everything is displayed.

The screen arrangement will be from left to right, just like how you read a book. This is also a common style commonly found on any tablet model.

List of screens

Follow the same steps above to access screen editing mode. Press and hold until you see your icons jiggle, then click the screen slider.

Click the screen slider trượt

When you see a list of all your screens, tap, hold, and drag each display to a new position, corresponding to the order in which you want it to appear. You can do this with all monitors, including the main one.

Change screen position

When you are done, tap “Done” to close the list of screens and “Done” again to exit editing mode.

Click “Done”
