How to share health tracking data on iPhone

Normally, any health-related data collected by Apple Watch and iPhone is stored in the pre-installed Health app on iPhone. Starting with iOS 15 and up, you can fully share this health data with your family, friends or doctors with just a few simple taps. Let’s find out below.

Share data from iPhone Health app

You can share data from the iPhone Health app, as long as the recipient is in your contacts and also has an iPhone running iOS 15 or later. Of course, for this feature to be useful, you will also need some important health data to share.

To share health data, first launch the Health app on your iPhone and tap the Sharing tab.

Next, click on “Share with Someone” (Share with someone) and search for the person you want to share with. With that said, you can only share your health data with people who already have contacts on your iPhone.

Next, you will be asked if you want to “See Suggested Topics” (See suggested topics) to speed up the process, choose exactly what to share by clicking “Set Up Manually” (Manual setting).

On the next screen, you’ll be asked if you’d like to share health alerts, such as high heart rate notifications.

If you choose “Set Up Manually, you’ll see a full list of health data you can share, or a shortlist if you choose Apple’s recommendations (Suggested Topics). Click “See All” (View All) next to a category and select each option that you want to share.

Finally, tap on “next” to complete. You’ll see a list of the data you’ve selected to share. This list can be refined by clicking the “Edit” (Edit). Alternatively, you can click the “Preview” (Preview) to see what the data you intend to share will look like. Then, press the “Share” to share data.

Note that personal health information is a sensitive type of data. Therefore, you should be careful with whom you choose to share it with, even if things seem harmless. Remember that you can return to the Share tab in the Health app to review what data you’ve shared and with whom.
