Twitter’s Direct Message is an extremely useful communication feature that allows you to chat with friends and followers. In other words, on Twitter, you can send someone a direct message to communicate with them privately. Twitter allows sending and receiving direct messages on both web platforms and mobile apps. How to send a direct message on the Twitter website
First, open any web browser on your Windows, Mac, Linux or Chromebook computer and go to the Twitter website. Then log in to your Twitter account.
On the Twitter web interface that appears, look at the list on the left, and click on the item “Messages“.
At the top of the page”Messages” appears, click the option “New Message” (envelope icon) is in the upper right corner.
Window “New Message” will open. Here, you click on the text field “Search People” at the top and enter the Twitter username you want to send a direct message to. Click on this person’s name in the list, then, from the upper right corner of the window “New Message“, Press “next“.

If you want to send a direct message to more than one person at the same time, continue to find and select the people you want to send the message to on the “”New Message“. You can send a direct message to up to 50 people on Twitter.
On the right side of the Twitter page, a chat window will open. Here, click “Start a New Message” and enter the message you want to send to selected users. Then, click on the paper airplane icon or press enter to send the message.
(Note, to break a line while composing a message, press Shift+Enter. If just press Enter, the message will be sent immediately).
To attach a photo or video to a message, click the “Media” next to the message field. Similarly, click on the “GIF” to add animation, and click on the icon emoji to add emojis to your messages.
Send messages directly in the Twitter mobile app
First, launch the Twitter app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone. In the application interface, click on the option “Messages” (envelope icon in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.
On the message screen, in the lower right corner, tap “New Message” (envelope icon with a plus sign).
The “New Message” page will open. Here, tap the text field “Search for People and Groups”, and enter the Twitter username you want to send the message to. Then, tap that user in the returned list.
With that said, you can send a direct message to up to 50 people on Twitter.
After selecting the people to send, click “next“.
A notification page with a list of message recipients will open. At the bottom of this page, tap “Start a Message” and enter your message. Then, click on the paper airplane icon to send the message.
To attach a photo or video to a message, click the “Media” to the left of the message field. To add a GIF, tap the option “GIF“.
