Instructions on how to export 3D animations in PowerPoint 365

The 3D Models feature allows us to insert 3D objects into PowerPoint in an extremely simple way. And this feature is now available on PowerPoint 2019, 2021 and 365 versions.

All three versions above have 3D Models feature, but PowerPoint 365 is the best version, because it provides more specific types of motion effects that other PowerPoint versions do not have.

This is really a privilege and a favor of Microsoft for PowerPoint 365.

But if we want, we can still use the trick to be able to insert these characteristic motion effects into PowerPoint versions like 2019, 2021.. Specifically, we will export 3D objects from PowerPoint 365 to images animated GIF => then share with everyone.

Okay, now let’s do it together!

#first. How to create 3D animations with PowerPoint 365

+ Step 1: Start up PowerPoint 365 up => select Insert => choose 3D Models => choose Stock 3D Models … (in case 3D objects are available in the device, please select This Device… Please).

+ Step 2: Online 3D Models provides us with a lot of different 3D objects, but only those belonging to the group Animated new special motion effects.

Here I will choose the object Octopus in group Animated Animals => and choose Insert

+ Step 3: You double click on the inserted 3D object => observe and remember two fields of information Height and Width. The specific value for this object is Cao to be 4.14” and Width to be 4.01”

+ Step 4: Customize the size of the slide just clicked with the size of the 3D object

If you do not do this step, the output animation will take the size of the whole silde, so a lot of space will be redundant, not only increasing the size of the animation.

Perform: Choose Design => choose Slide Size => choose Custom Slide Size …

Dialog box Slide Size appears, now enter the size of Width and Height equal to the dimensions noted in Bước 3 => and choose OK

+ Step 5: The Microsoft PowerPoint dialog box appears, select Maximize

Complete Bước 5 we get the result as shown below (the size of the slide has been customized by the size of the object).

+ Step 6: Export 3D object to GIF animation

Choose File => choose Export => choose Create an Animated GIF => choose Extra Large => checkmark Make background transparent => choose Create GIF

Dialog box Save As appears, select the save folder you want to save, name it => and select Save done again.

As soon as you choose Save then the software will start converting and exporting the image, this process is fast or slow depending on your computer configuration

#2. Learn more about the 3D Model tab in PowerPoint

The 3D Model tab provides a lot of tools that allow us to customize 3D objects such as:

  • Pause Pause effect.
  • Scenes Select the type of characteristic effect, depending on the selected 3D object, the number of Scenes will change accordingly.
  • 3D Models insert objects.
  • 3D Model Views viewing angles.
  • Pan & Zoom location and size.
  • Height, Width height and width.

#3. Learn about Create an Animated GIF

  • Extra Large The animation has the largest size and has Full HD quality.
  • Large The animations are large in size and in HD quality.
  • Medium The animation is medium in size and in SD quality.
  • Small animations are small in size and of low quality
  • Make background transparent Slide background is transparent, if there is no special need, the option should be selected.
  • Seconds to spend on each slide seconds of each slide.

#4. Epilogue

Okay, that’s it, I finished the tutorial for you guys how to export 3D animations in PowerPoint 365 to use for other versions of PowerPoint already.

In addition to the default PowerPoint library, we can access the library of the 3D Viewer application for more choices.

Specifically, you start the 3D Viewer application (pre-installed on Windows 10) => then press the key combination Ctrl + Shift + O to open the library => select the object to insert => press the combination Ctrl + S to save.

NOTE: For those of you who do not know how to open 3D Viewer: Press combination Windows + WILL to open Windows Search => then search with keyword 3D Viewer it’s out.
