Check if your printer supports automatic duplex printing
To find out if your printer supports duplex printing, you can check the printer manual from the printer manufacturer, or you can do the following:
- Click the tab File
- Press Print
- In Settingsclick Print One Sided. If optional Print on Both Sides appears, indicating that your printer is set up for duplex printing.

- If you are printing to a copier that combines printer and copier that supports duplexing, it may support automatic duplex printing.
- If you have more than one printer installed, maybe one printer supports duplexing and the other doesn’t.
How to print double-sided in word
If your printer doesn’t support automatic duplexing, you have two options: print duplex manually or print odd and even pages.
How to print two-sided in word manually
If your printer doesn’t support automatic duplexing, you can print all the pages that appear on one side of the paper, and you’ll be prompted to proceed with turning the paper over and printing the second side.

In Word, do the following:
- Click the tab File.
- Press Print.
- In Settings click Print One Sidedthen click Manually Print on Both Sides

When you print, Word prompts you to turn the paper over to feed it into the printer again.
Note: When you print using the manual duplex option, it’s a good idea to run a test to determine how to correctly rearrange the pages for the printer.
Print odd and even pages
You can also use the following procedure to print on both sides:
- Click the tab File.
- Press Print.
- In Settings click Print All Pages. In the next section, press Only Print Odd Pages.
- Click Print
- After printing the odd page, we proceed to turn the paper over. In Settings click Print All Pages. In the next section, press Only Print Even Pages to print even pages.
- Click the button Print
Note: To ensure that the pages print in the correct order when printing odd or even pages, click File->Options->Advancedand under Printtick Print on front of the sheet for duplex printing or Print on back of the sheet for duplex printing.
So we have done two-sided printing in Word on both printers that support 2-sided printing or without 2-sided printing. Extremely simple, isn’t it?
