Unboxing and Packaging

Armor A80 comes in black box with a small transparent window which shows the the HDD from inside , Also you can see that the model of the HDD along with the capacity and many other features on the bottom left side .

Once you open the box , you will found the following items .

A Closer look at the Drive

Armor A80 , from its name you can figure out that it is made to withstand impacts and perform well even in damp conditions . The outer case of the Armor A80 is brushed aluminium type although the enclosure of the HDD is made very perfect , and its seal tight so not water could seep through it . Also note that the brand logo is printed on the front side of the HDD

On the right side of the HDD , you can see the small USB3.0 data cable which can be placed with the HDD so you dont lose it . This is very nice feature you may say . Note that this is very short length cable so you have to use the provided USB3.0 cable .

On the left side , of the HDD you will find the USB 3.0 port along with the cover to protect from dust .

You can see in the below picture that , the Drive inside the enclosure is of Toshiba and this is 2.5inch 5400 RPM drive . But still its very amazing to see this drive performing as fast as normal drives do .

Also you can see that there is padding of rubber foam to protect drive from shocks and jerks during operation or whatever the case is .

Benchmarking and Testing

We tested this HDD , by using our test rig having following components .

• Intel Corei5 3570K CPU
• MSI b75-g43 Gaming Motherboard
• ADATA 16GB 2400MHz  Memory
• ADATA 256 GB SSD
• Thermaltake 600watt PSU

Before running the benchmarks , we drop this portable hard disk from various heights of 3ft , 5ft , 8ft and 10ft . Also we threw a litre of water on it from every side to make sure that its waterproof .

We run simple benchmark test which was enough to squeeze every bit of speed from this drive . We ran ATTO DISK , CrystalDisk Mark and HDTUNE .

In the End ( Conclusion )

In the end , all we have to say that this is one the best and toughest portable hard drive from Silicon Power which not only provides protection but also provide the amazing speeds .
From appearance to the performance , everything thing is top notch .  The HDD looks classy and elegant and its light weight . Also the USB3.0 is plus point which is responsible for great number of speeds . Also this drive is backed up by 3 year warranty . So in my opinion this is one of the budget friendly portable HDD which you can use for every purpose .

There are some things which can be improved like the outer casing of the drive , it would be better that if more padding or rubber covering is placed so protect the outer shell from scratches . But nevertheless , this looks great as it is .
