However, the developers are eyeing a bigger project than just Teamfight Tactics – TFT season 6.5 or even Season 7. Those are thoughts on the Tactics 2.0 version, according to lead developer Stephen ‘Mortdog’ Mortimer.
Teamfight Tactics 2.0 will not be a sequel but an expanded version of the auto battler mode. It includes new modes, features, and new faces that may not be available in League of Legends.
“I remember Meddler (LOL’s VP of Game Direction) saying we needed a Teamfight Tactics – TFT 2.0. And in a lot of different ways, I think this year will move us in that direction. seriously. There will be some announcements early next year that I think will show what we’re talking about.” Mortdog explained on the Review 2021 stream.
This is already starting to be seen with some major changes in the game. Like Silco in Arcane will be a champion appearing in Teamfight Tactics – TFT season 6.5 but not in League of Legends. And Teamfight Tactics – TFT season 7 is also in development with new features and changes, although there is currently no information about TFT’s next season.
However, that is also reflected internally at Riot, with the development team developing according to the set roadmap. “We’ve got more people, we’ve got new leadership, new engineers, new designers. Looks like in 2022 we’ll continue to level up,” Mortdog said.
When will Teamfight Tactics – TFT 2.0 come out?
With plans that have been in the works for three years, and are eligible to last much longer. The developers of Teamfight Tactics are confident that if they can deliver “more than half the job” then the auto battler genre will not only be in vogue for years to come, but for decades.
“In the current typical Teamfight Tactics – TFT playstyle, we can offer more than we can. I’ve sat and listened to the players’ complaints… There’s a lot of room to develop and improve. we’ve probably reached a certain peak. But we can continue to grow more.” Mortdog said.
With the Perfect Couple mode already out and having a large audience for tournaments (although there were no plans to roll it out to players before), a lot of player needs have been met. However, TFT has a promising future ahead of it, starting with the upcoming February Teamfight Tactics – TFT 6.5 update.
