Zoom’s new Immersive View: Brings people together

If you get tired of staring at a bunch of faces on Zoom calls, a new virtual background can change everything. Turn it on and you, your coworkers, your friends, and your family members will be almost in the same virtual space, looking like you’re sitting side by side.

Immersive View feature of Zoom

This feature, called Immersive View, can accommodate up to 25 participants in a meeting space. Whether or not it makes you feel more connected with others, the spectacle of groups interacting – even in virtual form – stands out.

Zoom’s use skyrocketed during the pandemic, as it has become the video chat application of choice for millions of people for both work and social communication. Zoom’s Immersive View is similar to Microsoft’s Teams Together Mode.

If you want to try this new mode, here’s how to enable Zoom’s Immersive View to bring you and your co-workers together in a new virtual space.

How to use Zoom’s Immersive View feature

1. If you are meeting or webinar organizer, start the Zoom meeting on PC (it will be enabled by default for all pro accounts and free using Zoom 5.6.3 and above. up). In the top right corner where you find the view Speaker or Gallery ViewYou will see the option to turn on Immersive View. Please click Immersive View.

2. Choose from one of Zoom’s provided scenes to bring in your meeting participants. You’ll find layouts for groups of up to 25, as well as several layouts for smaller groups. Or, you can upload your own layout.

3. Meeting participants or webinar organizers will now be placed in the same virtual background and will appear that way on all participants’ screens (unless they are using a Older zoom, in that case, they’ll see participants in Gallery or Speaker View with black background). Host can also move participants around in a scene and resize their images.

If your meeting has more than 25 participants, additional people are shown in a thumbnail strip above the shared scene. At this point, you can’t record the meeting in Immersive View – instead, the recordings will appear as a Gallery or Speaker layout.
