Instructions on how to fly in Minecraft with Creative or Survival mode

Minecraft maps can be huge, so it’s not uncommon for many players to prefer flying rather than walking. Flying in Minecraft means traveling faster and more efficiently without being blocked by mountains, trees, and water bodies.

There are a number of different ways to fly while playing Minecraft. In Creative mode, fly simply by touching a key or button on the dashboard. However, in Survival mode, you will have to earn the ability to fly by finding an equipped item called Elytra.

How to fly in Creative or Spectator mode

As you may know, Minecraft has many different game modes and gameplay. In Creative and Spectator mode, you’re more like an in-game god.

You can freely fly anywhere at any time. Just quickly double-tap the jump button, on the computer will be the space button.

After flying, you can press and hold the jump button to fly up and hold the crouch button to fall down. You can also hold the mid-air sprint button to fly faster.

Double-click the jump button again to stop flying. Because you’re in Creative or Spectator mode, you won’t suffer any damage if you fall from a great height.

Just don’t fall into nothingness, like the gaps between the islands in The End.

How to fly with Elytra in Survival mode

For brave and patient players who don’t dare to use Creative mode, can still fly in Survival mode. But it’s harder, and you can’t fly freely.

To fly in Survival mode, you’ll need to find the rare Elytra item, located somewhere in the End Ship.

Search for Elytra

End Ships is located in the remote area of ​​The End, the dimension of the space where the Ender Dragon lives. Every time you defeat Ender Dragon, two portals will be created, one portal will take you to the credits section and then back home, and another will take you out to the Island of End.

However, if you don’t want to face off against one of the game’s biggest villains and are a patient builder, you can also build a bridge from the Ender Dragon’s lair to the city of End. Just be aware that this can take a lot of time and will require a lot of resources – the nearest island is more than 1000 blocks away.

If you follow this path, place a bed near the gate to your End world to create a spawning point, as falling out of the world resulting in your death would be a potential danger.

However when you get there, once you find End City on the remote islands, the best way to find Elytra is to board an End Ship. More than half of End Cities have one of these ships.

Inside the ship, find a level encrusted with black Obsidian blocks. There, you’ll find Elytra in an item box, surrounded by two chests, which you should definitely steal and be guarded by a Shulker. Break the item frame to receive Elytra.

How to fly on Elytra

Elytra works very differently from the kind of flight you do in Creative and Spectator modes. It’s more like flying, and you can’t fly forever. However, you can hack that by arming fireworks while surfing.

To use Elytra, you will need to equip your wings in the character’s chest slot. From there, climb to great heights, fall down and hit the jump key once to start flying.

When flying with Elytra, be mindful of real world physics. Flying at an angle that is too sharp can cause you to swing and fall from the sky. And colliding with the ground or walls too quickly could injure or die.

When your feet start to wobble while gliding on Elytra, it’s a sign you are losing altitude. If you’re still not ready to get down, equip a pyrotechnic missile on your toolbar and use the item. This will give you a great speed boost, bringing you back into the sky. In theory, you can fly as long as you have the pyrotechnic rockets to spend.

Just be aware that the Elytra also has its own durability, which will gradually decrease as you fly. You can repair an Elytra by combining it with two ghost membranes in one anvil, or by combining two broken Elytras.
