This week, Telegram app for Windows 10 just got major security updates. Among them is the ability to automatically delete messages. Now you can set a timer to delete all Telegram messages within 24 hours or 7 days. The update also brings other improvements such as improved invite friends to join groups.
The ability to delete messages automatically was previously only supported for secret chat groups. However, now users can use it for any type of chat. If used with regular chat groups, the countdown will start as soon as you send the message, not after the message is read like in a secret chat group.
How to set up self-delete messages on Telegram
To set up Telegram to automatically delete messages, follow these steps:
- Open the app Telegram Then select the chat you need to delete
- Next, tap the vertical three-dot menu and select Clear history
- Choose Enable Auto-Delete
- Select a countdown time
- Press Save to save changes
Regarding the function of inviting users to join groups, Telegram now supports you to convert invitation links into QR codes. This feature is great for large groups that need to get a lot of people to join.
Telegram says they currently support a group with up to 200,000 members. If that is not enough, Telegram allows you to switch groups to Broadcast Group, unlimited number of participants. However, in Broadcast Group only administrators can send messages and other members can only send voice chats.
