Intel recently announced the new 13th generation Raptor Lake processors, offering a combination of high-performance P cores and power-efficient E Cores.
The announcement of Intel’s new 13th generation processors comes at a time when rival AMD has launched a new Ryzen 7000 processor for desktop devices.
The new chips are built on an upgraded version of the Intel 7 process (10nm design), feature third-generation SuperFin transistors, and x86 performance hybrid architecture. It includes High Performance cores (P cores) and power efficient cores (E cores) that divide workloads using Intel thread allocation.
The most advanced chipset in the new product line is the Intel Core i9-13900K with 24 cores, providing eight high-performance cores and 16 power-saving cores. It is also said to be able to reach a maximum Turbo frequency of 5.8 GHz. Intel also claims that it is 15% faster than its predecessor in single-threaded tasks and 41% better in multi-threaded work.
The Intel Core i5-13600K, on the other hand, comes with 14 cores, which is a combination of six high-performance cores and eight power-efficient cores along with 20 threads. The Intel Core i7-13700K has 16 cores, including eight high-performance cores and eight power-efficient cores, and comes with 24 threads.
On-chip L3 cache and L2 cache have been increased. Furthermore, there is support for PCIe Gen 5.0 with up to 16 lanes beyond the processor along with support for DDR5-5600 and DDR5-5200. It is also compatible with DDR4 memory for motherboard manufacturers that still want to offer DDR4. The Core i5, i7 and i9 chips all have an initial power output of 125W initially and 253W when running Turbo.
Although Intel warned about price hikes on flagship chips earlier this year, that didn’t happen because the price of Intel 13th gen chips is quite similar to the price of 12th generation processors.
Intel Core i9-13900K is priced at 13,990,000 VND, the same price as last year’s 12900K chip. On the other hand, the Intel Core i5-13600K is priced at VND 7,990,000, slightly up from VND 6,990,000 for the 12th generation. Intel Core i7-13700K is priced at VND 9,990,000. Intel says the new 13th-generation chips will start shipping October 20 alongside the Z790 motherboards.
