How to set a playtime for videos on Google Drive

Want your Google Drive video to play at a specific time when people open the video link? The process is not complicated at all. Let’s find out right here.

Set video playback timeline on Google Drive

Basically, you will have to create a custom link for the video on your Google Drive so that it automatically plays at a specified time. There is absolutely no need for the help of a third-party application, you just need to add a parameter to the video’s URL.

First, launch Google Drive on your computer and find the video file for which you want to set a playtime.

Right click on the video and select “Get Links” (Get Link) from the menu that appears.

Select “Get Link”

Now you get the link of your video by clicking “Copy Link” (Copy link).

Click “Copy Link”"

Open a new tab in your web browser and paste the copied video link there. Don’t press Enter.

Your video link should look like this:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZWQN93aQ2lniE3RTe-sdL1VXrbFHLcUL/view?usp=sharing

On this link, you delete all characters that appear after the parameter “view?“. Then add parameters t with the time you want to play the video. For example, to play the default video at 1 minute 25 seconds, you must edit the link as follows:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZWQN93aQ2lniE3RTe-sdL1VXrbFHLcUL/view?t=1m25s

In the above link, m stands for minutes and S is seconds. To specify the time, you would use the . parameter H.

Visit the link and you will see the video played at the specified time. You can now share this link with others so they can also watch your video at your chosen starting point. However, make sure you’ve given them access to your video.
