Known errors on the first Windows 11 Insider Preview version and how to fix it

Microsoft has officially released the first Windows 11 Insider Preview for users participating in the Windows Insider Program. This version has some new features and an eye-catching new interface. Besides, it also has an indispensable “specialty” of Windows that is errors, unresolved problems.

Here is a list of known Windows 11 Insider Preview 22000.51 bugs:

  • When updating from Windows 10 to Windows 11 or when installing Windows 11, some features will be removed or limited. Feature list removed on Windows 11.
  • Taskbar:
    • Taskbar may not be visible on multiple monitors but may be fixed in an upcoming build
    • The preview window may not show the whole window when you hover the mouse on the Task View button on the Taskbar
  • Settings:
    • When updating Windows 11 on a multi-account device, Settings may not run
    • A small number of legacy Settings pages and some bugs will be resolved in the next updates
    • The “Power mode” setting is not showing up on the Power & battery page
    • When running Settings, a blue screen may appear for a while
    • When using Quick Settings to edit Accessibility settings, the settings interface may not save the selected states
  • Start menu:
    • In some cases, you will not be able to enter keywords to search from the Start menu or Taskbar. If you encounter this error, you can fix it by pressing Windows + R to open Run and then close it
    • Microsoft is fixing a bug that prevented users from being able to unpin apps from the Start menu, lose the command bar on File Explorer, or hide Snap. To fix it, you need to restart the machine
  • Search:
    • The application icon in the Search panel may not load, only a gray box appears
    • When hovering over the Search icon on the taskbar, recent searches are not displayed. To fix it, you need to restart your computer
    • After clicking the Search icon on the Taskbar, the Search panel does not open. To fix it, you need to restart the “Windows Explorer” process then reopen the Search panel
    • The Search Panel may display a black screen and not display any content below the search box
  • Widgets:
    • The system’s text scaling will scale all widgets icons to the same scale, which may result in widgets being cut off.
    • Running links from widgets panel may not call background apps
    • When using screen reader/Narrator in widget content may not be reported correctly
    • Widgets may appear blank and to fix this you need to log out of your account and then log back in
    • When using Outlook with a Microsoft account, Calendar (Calendar) and To Do changes may not sync with widgets in real time.
    • Widgets may display the wrong size on secondary monitors. If this is the case, you can run widgets via touch or the Windows + W keyboard shortcut on the main machine first and then launch it on the secondary screen.
    • After adding many quick widgets from widgets settings some widgets may not show on the panel
  • Store:
    • The settings button may not work in some cases
    • Some applications do not have evaluation and scoring functions yet
