Each operating system has a different way of changing the default search engine. Just notice that you can change the search engine to your liking, to suit your needs. Here’s how you can change the default search engine on browsers of all operating systems.
1. Set Default Search Engine on Android
Android is an open source operating system, so changing the search engine on an Android device is easiest.
You probably already use Chrome for Android. To change the search engine in Chrome for Android, open the Chrome app > tap the . button Menu > touch Settings > touch Search engine. Choose one of the search engine options from the list – Google, Bing, Yahoo!, AOL, and Ask. When performing a search from Chrome’s location bar, it will use the search engine you selected.
For those of you who often use the default browser on Android, you can do the following. You guys come in Settings >Advanced >Set Search Engine.
2. Set Default Search Engine on iOS
The iOS version of Safari allows you to change the default search engine. Let’s open the app Settings out > press Safari > click Search Engines and select your desired search engine. On iOS 7, you can choose between Google, Yahoo, and Bing – Google is the default. Searches you perform from Safari’s address bar will use the search engine you choose here.
No other search engines can be added here. To use another search engine as default, you must install another web browser or a similar application.
3. Set the default search engine on Windows Phone
You open the Internet Explorer Web browser on Windows Phone > click the . button Menu > touch Settings >Advanced Settings >Default search provider and select your desired search engine. Microsoft is starting to remove this option on some new Windows Phone devices, so you may be forced to use Bing instead of Google.

As services are more deeply integrated into each operating system, it becomes more difficult to change search engines. For example, there is no way to change the default search engine used by Google Now, Siri (by Apple), or Cortana (by Microsoft). Therefore, you can only change the default search engines available in operating systems when browsing the web. Of course, this is also a convenient thing for users, still being able to choose from major search engines like Google, Bing.
