Warning: iOS 14 keeps crashing

Apple officially released iOS 14, iPadOS 14, watchOS 7 and tvOS 14 updates for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV on September 17. However, this latest iOS update of the iPhone is considered to be not really stable, having a nasty error after the upgrade greatly affects the user experience.

The iOS 14 update is adding some features that users have long expected for, such as bringing widgets on the Home screen, sorting apps by category, changing default web and email browsers. However, it seems that the last feature is not working properly as many users report that their iPhone running iOS 14 after restarting automatically sets the default email and browser apps to Safari and Apple Mail.

Users choose Chrome as the default browser, but the iPhone still resets Safari after each start. Photo: 9to5mac.

Many users have replaced Mail with Outlook, Safari with Chrome or Edge and everything is fine and smooth, but when the computer reboots everything will return to its original state.

Also, if a user changes the default email app but keeps Safari, the email link in this browser will automatically skip the selected third-party app and open Apple Mail.

Apple has publicly tested iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 since June, but until its official release to users, there are still serious problems. This isn’t the first time Apple’s major release has crashed, so it’s always recommended to back up your phone before upgrading.

Currently, Apple, Google and Microsoft have not officially commented on this issue.

Some other “hard to help” bugs of iOS 14 are shared by users across large and small technology forums.
