How to add music to stories and messages on Snapchat

With Snapchat’s Sounds feature, you can choose popular songs or even create your own to insert short videos. How to do it is not complicated.

First, launch the Snapchat app on your iPhone or Android smartphone. Then, take a photo or record a video by touching or holding the circular shutter icon at the bottom of the home screen.

When you are ready, tap the microphone icon once to start recording and press again if you want to stop recording. Alternatively, you can also long press to start recording and release to stop. Your tracks can be up to 60 seconds long.

Note that for copyright reasons, you should not re-record a popular song. If Snapchat detects copyrighted music from your recording, a pop-up will block the recording.

When it’s done, you’ll be taken to a preview page to add finishing steps. Give your track a title and choose whether to make it public. When made public, other snapchat users can also access your music.

Finally, use the preview window again to trim your clip as needed.
