If you’re bothered by having to receive too many message notifications from a certain person (or chat group) in the Messages app on your iPhone, it’s easy to turn off those annoying notifications. Here’s how to do it.
Mute messages in the Messages app
iOS allows you to turn off notifications for a specific message or group chat in the Messages app without having to put your phone on silent and without affecting other messages.
First, open the app Messages (Message) on your iPhone. Find the conversation you want to turn off notifications for in the message thread list, tap it, and swipe your finger to the left.
Immediately two options will appear on the right side of the screen. Tap the icon that looks like a crossed out bell.
You will then see a small, gray, crossed-out bell icon in the chat list, which means that from now on, any notifications from this chat will be muted and you won’t have to get annoying sounds anymore.
In other words, you will no longer receive notifications when that message thread is updated. In case you change your mind and want to reopen the notification for the conversation, just swipe left on the message thread and tap the bell icon again.
It should be noted that there are at least two other ways to hide message thread notifications. On the message thread list, you can long press a conversation and select “Hide Alerts“(Hide Alerts) in the pop-up window. Or you can tap the person’s avatar (or group chat logo) at the top of the chat and toggle the “Hide Alerts“(Hide Alerts) to position “on“(turn on).
Hope you are succesful.
