What is Apple’s new MagSafe charger? How does it work?

Apple has brought back MagSafe charging, making iPhone 12 a series of phones that support wireless charging with magnets. MagSafe also offers a range of new accessories. So what exactly is MagSafe?

What is MagSafe?

In the case of the iPhone 12, MagSafe is a new way to charge your iPhone without the need for a charger or cable. The new charger will have a magnet on the outside, your phone will charge as soon as the charger is attached to the device. It is similar to how the Apple Watch is charged.

How does MagSafe for iPhone work?

Apple explains how the new component inside the iPhone 12 will enable MagSafe. It has a graphite-copper layer, a magnet, a polycarbonate coating, a charging core, an electrical layer, and an NFC component. In the middle, there will be a male foot aligned to charge in the right place, ensuring the highest performance.

Is MagSafe for iPhone fast?

MagSafe has a maximum speed of 15W. This isn’t the best charging speed right now, but it beats Apple’s previous Qi wireless charging (7.5W).

Any other MagSafe accessories?

Apple has introduced a number of accessories and more will be available in the future. There is a sort of slim wallet-like design, now modified for use with the iPhone. The new leather case uses magnets to show the watch through just enough of each slot. Apple also released a new MagSafe Duo charger, designed to charge both Apple Watch and iPhone. Is this the replacement for AirPower that Apple has made in so many rumors? MagSafe will also support external accessory manufacturers, the first name we have is Belkin.

Does MagSafe come with iPhone 12?

Apple has set a price for MagSafe and accessories, it also does not come with the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max.

MagSafe charger will cost $39.99, leather wallet will cost $59.99. MagSafe compatible silicone cases and covers are available for $49.99. The MagSafe Duo charger is not yet listed on Apple’s website.

Apple’s new leather case for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will have to wait until November 6 to be available on the market. However, many users have shared the first real images of the latest silicone case with built-in MagSafe charging. However, Apple also gives some information to guide users to use this new silicone case for iPhone 12.

The following information is provided in the Apple support document for MagSafe charging:

• Apple says that users should not place credit cards, security cards, passports, or keys between an iPhone and the MagSafe charger as this can damage the magnet system or the RFID processor inside the charger.
• iPhone battery may get hot when charging with MagSafe, software may be limited to charge above 80%.
• If an iPhone charges via MagSafe and is plugged in to the Lightning charger, the device can only receive charging via the Lightning cable.
• To clean the MagSafe, first disconnect the charger from the power source and wipe away any dust or dirt from the metal ring of the charger. Next, use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe off the silicone case and clean the charging circle thoroughly. Detergents are not recommended to be used to clean the MagSafe charger.

MagSafe charging is a new feature for all versions of iPhone 12 that allows supported accessories to have magnets attached, helping the phone device stay in place when charging wirelessly. Apple also has a series of new MagSafe leather case accessories that will be available to users in the shortest time.

Since when did MagSafe appear?

A few years ago, MacBook users regretted a lot because Apple abandoned MagSafe, the sturdy magnetic charging cable that is also very easy to remove from this laptop. However, it was phased out by Apple in 2016, with USB-C charging instead. Charging MagSafe for iPhone back is also a bit “teasing” Apple users, especially for those who still love the MacBook’s MagSafe.
