How to quickly switch between user accounts on Chromebook

Chromebooks allow you to create and use up to five different user profiles (accounts) on the system. But the “cool” thing is that you won’t have to go back to the login screen every time you want to switch between these user accounts.

Here’s how you can quickly switch between user accounts on your Chromebook with just one keyboard shortcut.

From any user account, click the status area that shows your Chromebook’s battery and WiFi level in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Now, click on the “Sign in another user” button. Select the option “OK” in the warning prompt that appears.

Both of your accounts are now eligible for setup with an instant switching option, which means you won’t need to enter a password to switch between them flexibly.

You can repeat this process for as many user accounts as you want.

To use instant switching, click the status area again in the bottom right corner of the screen, and from below the image menu, simply select the account you want to sign in to.

The system will automatically authenticate you and take you to that account without requiring a password. This is especially useful when you use multiple separate user accounts for different purposes such as work, personal life, or entertainment on a Chromebook.

Of course, you can also quickly switch user accounts using keyboard shortcuts. Press Ctrl + Alt + dot key to go to the next user account and Ctrl + Alt + comma key to go back to the previous user account.
