How to use the TODAY function in Excel.
1. To find the current date in Excel, use the TODAY function.
Note: the TODAY function has no parameters. The current date will automatically update when you open the workbook another day.
2. To enter the current date and time, use the NOW function.
3. If only entering the current time, use NOW() – TODAY() and apply the time format.
Note: dates are stored as numbers in Excel and count the number of days since 0 Jan 1900.
Static date and time
1. To enter the current date as a static value, press CTRL +; (semi-colon).
2. To enter the current time as a static value, press CTRL + SHIFT +; (semi-colon).
3. To enter the current date and time as a static value, simply press CTRL +; (semicolon), type a space and press CTRL + SHIFT +; (semi-colon).
