Lesson 41: Formatting currency in Excel

Format Currency (Currency) and Format Accounting (Accounting) in Excel is very similar. You can see the example below to see the difference.

Format currency in Excel

first. Enter the following values.

2. The Currency format has a $ sign next to the number.

3. The Accounting format left-aligns the dollar sign and displays dashes for zero values.

Note: The Currency format can display negative numbers with a minus sign, red, with parentheses, or red with parentheses. The Accounting format displays negative numbers in parentheses.
